USS Spokane WWII Braided Handle Tote
USS Spokane WWII Braided Handle Tote
This one-of-a-kind bag is smaller than our classic crossbody tote but full of amazing , handcrafted details. It’s made from a vintage Naval duffle bag from WWII that still bears some writing & hardware from the original piece. We researched the USS Spokane ship that the original sailor was stationed .
USS Spokane (CL-120) was a United States Navy Juneau-class light cruiser laid down on 15 November 1944 at the Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in Kearny, New Jersey; launched on 22 September 1945, sponsored by Miss Patrice Munsel; and commissioned on 17 May 1946, with Captain L. E. Crist in command
We don’t get Naval bags to work with very often, so this is a real treasure. The large pocket has the classic grommet and will keep all of your essentials close at hand. The tote strap is made from hand-cut + finished natural belting leather that will also soften and patina with wear. The top snaps shut to keep all of your treasures safely inside. The inside is fully lined with our classic ticking stripe and there are two more pockets to keep you organized. We’ve hand stamped the details of the ship for a back patch . This special bag comes with an additional small leather pouch that can be clipped to the bag or use the clip to hold your keys. The handles are braided leather for a special Naval touch that mimics the rope on ships. They will turn a beautiful caramel color & patina over time. This is a very special piece of American history that's equally comfortable for travel or for everyday.
