Large WWII Elmer Zip Top Tote
Large WWII Elmer Zip Top Tote
This is a really special piece of American military history that has been repurposed into a fabulous tote bag. The original canvas is from 1944 and lots of parts of the original bag was incorporated into the design. The original owner of this bag is a gentleman named Elmer Gross. He proudly served our country earning medals of honor & also being part of the famous landings at both Normandy & Omaha beach. He later went on to become the head coach from 1949-1954 for the Nittany Lions at Penn State. The history of this bag is really off the charts.
The strapping details and the bottom are sturdy Italian veg tanned leather. The tote straps are made from black hand-cut and finished belting leather that will soften and patina with use. The inside is fully lined with our classic ticking stripe and has 2 additional pockets. The top zips fully shut with a bright red zipper to keep everything safely inside. Our signature cross has been hand sewn on the front strap for a perfect little detail. A slender red leather zipper pull finishes off this perfect one-of-a-kind bag.
