Antique Linen Double Strap

$395.00

Early European grain sacks were made from hemp and flax and were handmade right on the farms on which the hemp or flax was grown. After harvesting, the hemp was cleaned, spun into thread and subsequently woven into a heavy, durable fabric. That fabric was used to make large bags for grain, feed and other agricultural products for efficient transport from farm to marketplace. The distinct and familiar striping often seen on grain sacks was also a way for farmers to identify their sacks so the bags could be easily returned to their rightful origin. The unique character of each bag holds the history of a 19th century farm. This makes this fabric the perfect vehicle to create beautiful one of a kind bags.

If you like our classic double strap style, This one is for you. This generous sized one of a kind bag has a roomy pocket & hand cut & finished natural belting straps in 2 lengths that will patina & soften over time to a beautiful caramel color. The straps can be removed individually if you prefer a shorter or cross body option. The top has a zipper closure with a decorative navy leather tassel. The bag is fully lined in navy ticking with 2 additional inside pockets.

17”w x 13”h x 5”d

2 inside pockets: 5 1/2”w x 7”h
