Happy Thanksgiving to all! As I write this, the breeze is blowing & the kids are out surfing…. It has become part of our family schedule to check out for Thanksgiving break every year which can make for a very low stress holiday since I’m not worrying about the turkey & the trimmings.
Saying that, I’m also so excited for the upcoming Firefly Holiday Market which will be just around the corner when I return from this lazy holiday. If you’re in the area, please come by the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art from December 14-16 to check out all the beautiful wares the local elves have been busy putting together. I’ve been making lots & lots of bags & accessories the past 2 months & hoarding them in my office so I can fill a booth for this excellent market.
Please stop by and say hello!
The biggest market of the year (for me) is over. I have to work pretty constantly for 2 straight months to turn out enough product to fill a 10′ x 10′ booth. I felt like I had bags hanging off everything from old ladders to trees. I was hoping to take lots of pictures but as soon as the doors opened I hardly looked up for the first 4 hours. By the time I was able to take a breath, I found that my booth looked picked over & half empty. It took the rest of the weekend to rearrange the goods to make it look more full & inviting. That is a good problem to have so I am most definitely grateful. By the time I packed up on Sunday evening I had 5 bags hanging & looking quite lonely. I have them on a coat rack in my office as I type. Summer is officially over- Now for new fall bags!
I spent the weekend helping to organize my son & his friend with their new business “Two B’z”. They carved rubber stamps & I cut the paper to size. We went to the art supply store, picked out paint colors & then they went to town. Every surface of our living area was covered with beautiful post cards drying. They are working in anticipation of the Firefly Gypsy Market in September where they will be selling their cards & braided bracelets. Between all the color combinations, each card had a very distinctive feel & together they looked like a pile of candy- So beautiful! Great work boys on your first business venture. I just know it will be a success!
It’s that time of year again & the amazing firefly ladies have organized another Handmade Market that will coincide with the Makerie retreat in April. I went last year & it was so much fun. What a great venue for this event. The best part about this year is that I actually get to participate! Can’t wait! Now, back to work. Must make goods.
