When we were in Iceland 2 summers ago, I took this picture of from a wall mural in downtown Reykjavik. It really just made me giggle. I mean really? A giraffe with such an attitude? A gorilla, maybe. But a giraffe? Love it!

I was fortunate enough to spend a day with the incredibly talented Food stylist & photographer Aran Goyoaga over the weekend while I was attending the Makerie Retreat.  She demonstrated her unique techniques & gave us all many tips on how to make our food shots look tempting & delicious.  I watched, I listened, I REALLY paid attention but at the end of the day I realized my shots will never quite look as good as hers. I will try my best to take from the day what I can & apply it to my future pictures. Here are some examples of my attempt to make food look luscious! I enjoyed the class emensly & realize I have a very long way to go.

A big thank you to Aran for spending the time to show us her beautiful point of view.  You can check her blog  Cannella et Vanille to see some examples of her life & photography. Enjoy!

Remember the scene in Finding Nemo when Dory & Marlin are racing through the sea of jelly fish? That is exactly what I think of whenever I see these pictures.  If you haven’t been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, it’s worth a trip if your in the area. The jellyfish exhibit is fantabulous! I stumbled over these pictures & just wanted to share them. Such beautiful colors & the movements are incredibly graceful. enjoy!

Boulder can be quite a funky place at times. I woke up one morning to this across the street. Picture worthy? Most definitely.

Today I want to share a new phone app that I recently got. It is so much fun especially when you are out in a panoramic landscape. I used it to show my dad all the spring blooms that are popped up while we were away on spring break. It was the most beautiful surprise to come home to.  I tried capturing the trees with a single shot but no matter where I stood it just didn’t do it justice. Here is where Photosynth comes in.  This app can take multiple pictures & stitch them together when your done. How fun is that?

The rest of the pictures were taken with the Hipstamatic app which is just so much fun in itself. My kids are hooked too. I wish you all could smell the sweet blossoms that practically knock you out when your on the front porch. Is there an app for that?

Happy Spring!

I’m off to Texas for the long weekend with my family to visit my very talented brother & his wonderful family. Some bar-b-q will certainly be in order!

Have a good one!

I was taking pictures of the snow covered trees, at night, from inside the house. When I looked back at the first couple of shots I realized the reflection was coming out much stronger than even I could see when I looked out the window so I started playing with different windows in the house to see what happened. It’s the little surprises that keep life interesting. So, here are some self portraits. Try it out!

These pictures I had of my grandparents have come in so handy for projects. I just love the attitude of them. This canvas bucket was basically made to the size to fit the pictures. I just ran them through the copier onto iron on paper & transferred the images on before I sewed the bucket together. You can see the actual pictures here from a former blog post.

Wishing you a very happy Friday.Have a great weekend!
